Jodi knows that any slip-ups made by the Ophi--a special group of necromancers born under the 13th sign of the zodiac--will fall on her shoulders... and that Hades is just waiting for them to screw up so he can wipe out the Ophi line. Unfortunately, Jodi has only convinced one Ophi to join her school: A hot guy named Chase who jeopardizes her relationship with Alex. Jodi loves Alex, but Chase can enhance her powers with just a touch—making her stronger than any Ophi has ever been. Her mixed emotions send her powers surging out of control, and the dead start rising without her conscious summoning—exactly what Hades doesn't want! If she chooses Alex over Chase, she may lose the battle to Hades, leading the Ophi race to extinction. If she chooses Chase, she might be able to stop Hades for good… but lose everything else. Jodi needs to figure things out fast--because death is stalking her at every turn
OK on to the Interview!!!!
Please tell is a little about bit about yourself?
I’m a former language arts teacher turned full-time writer.
I’ve always loved everything paranormal, maybe because I like to be scared.
When I’m not reading or writing, I’m playing with my daughter, running, or
spending way too much money on Amazon.
( Amazon takes all of my money, also!!!)
What is your favorite part about being a writer?
I get to meet new characters all the time and tell their
stories.
Are the characters personality traits and their experiences
based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Jodi is very much like me. We share the same birthday, the
same tendency to hurt ourselves, and we have the same taste in guys. (We might
fight over Alex from time to time.)
What genre would you consider your book?
Paranormal with a touch of horror.
Stalked by death has a lot of mythological elements, did you
have to do a lot of research for the book?
Definitely, but I actually was researching for another book
when I got the idea for this series, so in a way, I had a lot of research done
ahead of time. Of course I had to keep returning to research as the series
progressed, but I love mythology though, so it was fun.
Stalked by Death has a love triangle going on with the main
character. Is it hard to write love triangles or is it easy because you already
know the outcome?
Okay, without giving spoilers, let me just say that it’s not
a true love triangle. I’m going to leave it at that. ;)
What are your current projects?
I’m working on the second book in my Birth of the Phoenix
series, which will come out in 2014 through Month9Books. I’m also working on
another two-book series (if you can call two books a series) for Spencer Hill
Press called The Monster Within, also coming out in 2014.
Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family
members?
Book bloggers. I’ve never met such supportive people. I owe
book bloggers so much for the way they have rallied around this series. You’re
all truly amazing people.
Who are your favorite author and what is it that really
strikes you about their work?
I LOVE Rick Riordan. His voice is incredible, and he’s a
master at writing action scenes. I also really enjoy Becca Fitzpatrick. She
knows how to write paranormal romance. I fell hard for Patch in the Hush, Hush
series.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Read and write as much as you can. Books are the greatest
form of research and practicing your craft every day is essential for becoming
a better writer.
Fun questions
Early Riser or Night Owl?
Early Riser
Winter or Summer?
Fall LOL I like in-between temperatures.
If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who
would it be and why?
Tough one! F. Scott Fitzgerald because he wrote my all-time
favorite book, The Great Gatsby.
What is your favorite fan memory as an author?
It has to be when one of my favorite book bloggers, Keren
Hughes, got a tattoo of the 13th sign of the zodiac from my book. That was
surreal.
Sell your book in a tweet!(120 characters)
Jodi must figure out how to save an entire race from
perishing at the hands of Hades but learns she might be the biggest threat of
all.
Thanks for having me!

First thought before Reading
So, stalked my death is the second book in the Touch of
Death Series by Kelly Hashway, Touch of Death being the first and I couldn’t
wait to read it. I received an ARC and even though my schedule is super packed
with no free time I decided to bite the bullet and dive into this book anyway!
Because who doesn’t like reading about necromancers and Mythology!
My Thoughts
First off, you guys should know that I loved this book
before reading it! The concept was completely new, and unique. In this day when
most YA follow close to the same theme, Stalked by death goes outside of the
box and is a gem of a find. If you haven’t read the first book in the series
Touch of Death yet than you should go pick up a copy so that you can read
stalked by Death and understand my love for this series!
Jodi our main character is a necromancer, she like many
others were born under the 13th sign, Ophiuchus.
Descendants of the one and only Medusa, in Touch of Death she had to leave her
old life behind and embrace her destiny. Jodi is the chosen one, chosen to be
the saver of her kind. What I liked about Jodi in both books was how she
adapted to things quickly and her ability to embrace these new discoveries in
life. I also like that she is such a strong character, she went from being so naïve
and home school, to facing some pretty crazy things and overcoming them. Plus
through this all she had Alex, her swoon-worthy boyfriend, who is also Ophi!
In stalked by death, when
everything is semi- OK or as less crazy as things can be for Jodi, Chase enters
her life and with him brings new mystery, new problems, and strange
powers! I never really liked Chase and
was always on guard with him. But I loved him as an added addiction to the story!
We also see some familiar faces that resurface in book 2!
What I loved most about
Stalked by death is that it didn’t live up to the sequel let down. It was
everything I wanted and more. Dare I say I liked it more than the first? I
loved the first book but it can sometimes be a little slow because you are
getting introduced to a new world, and that takes a lot of page time to introduce
new things, but the second book picks up perfectly. It’s full of action! Like
action up until the last page and it’s packed with twist and turns that left me
drooling on the pages from having my mouth hang open in shock. I literally cannot
wait for the third book to see what Hashway will do with this story, but whatever
happens I know that it will be great because she is a great writer!!!
Overall, Stalked by death is
a great sequel that you wouldn’t want to miss! If you read Touch of dead than I
know you’ve probably been on the edge of your seat ready for Stalked by death,
and I’m here to tell you it’s amazing and worth the wait. If you are new to the
series than go pick up Touch of death and fall in love with this story!
P.S there is a giveaway also guys! Thanks to the amazing people over at Spencer Hill Press!!
Well, Crystal, this is definitely a new concept. I have been hearing a lot about the upcoming author, Kelly Hashway
